POWER WEEK

Electrical Power and Energy Department (EPE) of UPES  has organized ‘Power Week’ from 15th October-22nd October for students to display and enhance their learning experience. The event organized, gave an opportunity to the students as well as the faculty to interact with industry experts and learn about the current trends and traits of  the domain.

The following events were organized by the Department of Electrical Power & Energy on Power Week.


Event-I:  On 20th Oct 2016 we had an Interactive session with Lanco Infratech Director - Corporate HR
 
We are extremely thankful to  Lanco Infratech Director - Corporate HR Mr. Deepak Bharara  for his valuable knowledge sharing with  our EPE department Students and enriching the student practical knowledge on 
"Present Indian Power Scenario and Management skills required".
 Most of the students interacted with Mr.Deepak Bharara in Q&A session and  clarified their queries related to the present energy scenario ,Industrial Demands and Industry expectations from students and some personal queries. 










Event -II :Training program on Solar Energy and Wind Energy System on 21st Oct 2016

The Training program on Solar Energy and Wind Energy System was successfully conducted in Energy Lab, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun during “Power Week” by Mr. Balaji and 

Mr .Sami. In this training program students of B.Tech PSE and B.Tech Electrical third year students participated and got hands-on experience on Solar Energy and Wind Energy harnessing. Students also acquainted knowledge on wind turbine design , concept of micro grid and its benefits in rural areas.
 











Event -III :ADVANCED PROTECTION SYSTEM IN POWER INDUSTRY by Meggar Inc Expert 
The Training session was conducted for B Tech PSE and EE Students III year students on Electrical Protection System under UPES IEEE Student chapter 
in Power Week  by Mr.Isaac and Mr. R M Sharma.
The training session was successfully conducted for two days on October 16th(Saturday) and October 17th (Sunday) in power system lab.  Our Students had hands – on experience on the advanced relay panel with a theme ‘ ADVANCED PROTECTION SYSTEM IN POWER INDUSTRY’ in power system lab.

Industrial expert Dr. K Dinesh Babu (Meggar Inc.) has given training to our students for two days on the real time practices done on advanced numerical relays with software and SCADA system.  
During the training, a ‘best batch award’ was announced based on their performance on achieving the project assigned by the trainer. This was done to create a competitive spirit among the batches. Certificates and prizes were distributed to the participants and best group winners.



Event -IV : QUIZZARD
A quiz contest was conducted by Mr. Devendra Rawat & Ms. Deepali Yadav on 21st October, which helped boost student's participation in the events and also added a pinch of competitiveness in the air. Both bachelor's and master's program students participated actively and the winners were awarded with a cash prize.
