Report: Interactive Session on “Role of Electrical Engineers in Industries”

On  9/9/2016, an interactive session was organized by the Department of Electrical, Power and Energy, in which Mr Sanjay Raich, Chief Projects, Power System , Tata Steel  was speaker. The talk on “Role of Electrical & Power System Engineers in Industry” was scheduled from 2:30 to 3:30pm in Takshila, first block . Students of Ist Year and Second Year from Electrical , PSE and ET+IPR attended the informative and interactive session .

Mr Sanjay Raich spoke about scope of work for Power System Engineer .He basically talked about three fields  Application, Operation and Maintenance and also scope in  areas such as designing , automation and consulting .

It was an interactive session in which Mr Raich answered the questions put forward by the students and added his own inputs from his work experience of 25 years. Mr Raich emphasized to strengthen basic concepts for facing interview of any sector industry . An important point put forward by Mr Raich was to strengthen  aptitude and communication skills as in the long run the companies want managers cum engineers.

Overall the students were given a peak in the real world; a taste of what is waiting for them after three years. They were advised to go on industrial tours to keep their practical knowledge at par with their theoretical one. The students were  very grateful to the Department for this enriching and informative session, and are looking forward to more such endeavors that allows them  to learn and grow.
