Professor- BITS Pilani, Dr. Hari OM Bansal, Interacting with students on ‘Power Management for e-Vehicles’

Dr. Hari Om Bansal, Prof. BITS, Pilani has visited our campus on 12th Aug 2016. He has given a talk on “Power Management in Electric Hybrid Vehicles” for our B.Tech Electrical Engineering III yr., B.Tech. Power System Engineering III year and B.Tech Electronics Engineering III year. During the talk Dr. Bansal has  discussed the Presence of an alternative energy source along with the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). That appeals for optimal power split between them for minimum fuel consumption and maximum power utilization. Hence HEVs provide better fuel economy compared to ICE based vehicles/conventional vehicle. He  also emphasized on Energy management strategies and the algorithms that decide the power split between engine and motor in order to improve the fuel economy and optimize the performance of HEVs. The session was quite interactive and fruitful for the augmentation of  students’ knowledge. 

The session conducted was beneficial in more than one way, where student interaction and knowledge acquisition was the key.
